Contact U-Maths

The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, your name and any contact details you provide when you fill in our contact form on this website or make contact with us by other methods);
  • Website information. In common with most web sites, this site automatically logs information about every request made of it. This information is used for system administration, for bug tracking, and for producing usage statistics. The logged information may be kept indefinitely, but is likely to be purged automatically after a period of time.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • to provide you with information about U-Maths and its charitable activities with maths schools in England;
  • for you to participate in the activities of U-Maths with maths schools.

We may also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • If you are introduced to us by a mutual contact, for example if a colleague refers us to your profile on your professional website or makes an introduction via email.

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • respond to your enquiries;
  • undertake the charitable work of U-Maths.

U-Maths will not sell your information to any third party.

We may share information with:

  • Exeter Mathematics School who support U-Maths. For example, Exeter Mathematics School may process personal data of individuals who participate in U-Maths activities for reimbursement of expenses.
  • Maths schools in England. For example, if you will visit a maths school as part of a U-Maths activity we will share your name with the maths school.

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information is:

Where do we store your information?

Your information is securely stored.

The forms on our website transfer the information to us so that we may respond to you via email – our email is provided by King’s College London. We may keep a copy of your enquiry within our systems within King’s College London while the enquiry is ongoing or as it relates to services that U-Maths provides. We also operate a gmail email address and a YouTube channel.

We do not keep your information for longer than necessary. We keep financial information for up to seven years due to legal and contractual requirements, and we delete all other personal information systematically if not in current use – usually every three years.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
