This year, 389 students sat A Levels at University Maths Schools – almost double last year. Across the network, the average grade was an A, with more than 70% of entries at A or A.*
In every region, at least one Maths School ranked among the top three state A Level providers, and many took the top spot.
The newest schools have quickly established themselves: Imperial College London Maths School achieved 65.5% A* (2nd nationally in The Times league table), Cambridge Maths School secured 52.2% A* (highest-performing state school in the East of England – and indeed, outside of London), and Leeds Mathematics School 30.4% A* (highest-performing state school in the North of England).
Students are progressing to the most competitive universities, including 42% of students from King’s College London Mathematics School receiving Oxford or Cambridge offers.
The 2025 results highlight the distinctive contribution of University Maths Schools: combining rigorous teaching, specialist environments and a commitment to inclusion, they enable talented students from diverse backgrounds to achieve highly and take the next steps in STEM.
