Impact

The University Maths Schools Network delivers world-class education and life-changing opportunities, raising aspirations and achievement in maths across the UK

At the heart of the University Maths Schools Network is a belief that mathematics can transform futures.

Together, we nurture talent, champion excellence and equity, and extend opportunities so more young people can thrive.

The impact data below shows how this vision is already being realised.

Outstanding Success

Our schools set the standard for outstanding success, enabling young people to excel academically and grow in confidence.

All inspected schools graded Outstanding
Every Maths School inspected by Ofsted to date has been rated Outstanding, confirming the excellence of our model.

22% to Oxford or Cambridge
In 2024, more than one in five students secured a place at Oxford or Cambridge.

+0.6 grade uplift
Students make exceptional progress, achieving on average +0.6 of a grade higher per A Level (in 2024) than students with comparable GCSE results.

91% to Russell Group or Sutton Trust 30 Universities
In 2024, almost all students progressed to a Russell Group or Sutton Trust 30 university.

“It gave me an environment where people cared about excellence. Being surrounded by brilliant peers pushed me to raise my game. At King’s, no one made fun of you for working hard – everyone was inspired to do more.” Eito Miyamura

Excellence and Equity

At U-Maths, we believe excellence and equity go hand in hand. Our schools combine world-class teaching with inclusive practices, ensuring every student can achieve their full potential.

13% of our students are eligible for Free School Meals, compared to 7% in A Level Maths and 5% in Further Maths nationally – and at Maths Schools they achieve higher grades.

Autistic students are eight times more likely to be represented than nationally, thriving in our specialist environments.

Nearly a third of our students are female – and at Maths Schools they outperform national trends, closing the gender gap in top grades and STEM progression.

Extending Our Reach

The impact of Maths Schools extends far beyond their own classrooms. Through outreach programmes, mentoring, and teacher training, our schools support 4000 students and 400 teachers across the year.

This “halo effect” strengthens regional maths education and helps raise standards for all learners.
